Plus from what I gather, you're super happy about your own situation lately with the teaching and stuff and that might be hard for him to take, even on a subconscious level.

You know, that had not even occurred to me, but you are probably right. I do really love what I'm doing now, and that has to be hard when he's so miserable.

Mr.BridgeFright has a job that he absolutely adores. I am in a stressful position right now and it's making me stabby.  He's so happy and I'm so miserable and it does make me jealous. I think that only worsens my negative attitude.

Fall is the best time of the year.

Good luck to those job hunting.

Buddha- Does Zane know how you feel? I have been really unhappy with work this summer and my H kindly pointed out how different I had been lately and asked if there was anything he could do for me. Until he brought it up I had no idea how much work was affecting my personality.

My grandmother was just diagnosed with cancer. But my other grandmother already has cancer. So does my aunt. There should be a limit to how many family members can have it at the same time.

Vibing to Colleen, Audrey, and Zane!

One of my good friends' mom AND dad were just diagnosed with cancer. It fuucking sucks and there SHOULD be a limit.

  • After tricking me in to thinking he was in a really nice routine and we wouldn't have to do any strict sleep training, Sean decided to be awake allll night last night. I guess he got sleep while I rocked him or whatever, but as soon as I put him in his crib (I tried 5 times) he woke up. I finally took him to bed with me and slept for about an hour before he started headbutting me in the sternum. You know, basically what they do to unconscious people to make sure they aren't dead. I have been trying to get him to nap all morning but he'll fall asleep for about 10 minutes and then wake up screaming. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong, he just wants me to play/rock/nurse/anything but sleep.

Dan is coming home at noon so I can go to bed, because I am running on fumes.

Kid, you just signed yourself up for ferberization.

You could be hitting that 4mo wakeful period everyone on the bump is crazy about.

That sounds really really rough. I'm sorry. Definitely let Dan take some time so you can sleep. Sean doesn't need a mommy seeing Fraggles in the closet.

  • Buddha, my husband does the same thing when he's unhappy or stressed about something at work. He's quiet, moody, grumbly and then blow-upy because the newspaper got creased (or something equally stupid). I have a really tough time not letting his mood affect mine. I can't imagine having to deal with that daily.

I am working with a graphic designer (one that I've worked with on past publications) and she's driving me NUTS. I swear with every draft she sends, I send her a note asking her to correct the SAME THINGS. She also seems to be working only in the late afternoon/evening, which is annoying since I work mostly during the day. I do check my work email at night when I am expecting something from her, but I shouldn't have to. It wouldn't be such a big deal but she has taken so long to finish this document that I need it like last week. And she's leaving for vacation in Italy tomorrow for 2 weeks. Biitch better finish everything today.

I love fall too, but I suspect it does happen here until at least October.  Oddly though, people seem to have deserted the pool as soon as the calendar hit September, despit it still being in the mid-90s.

That's the South for you Fallin. Most pools close after Labor Day.

  • I'm curious about the reasons why people think things like fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome are bunk.  My mom was diagnosed with both and while I'm not convinced either way of the bunk-ness of either, I do know she has something going on physically.  Do people think that it's "all in the head" or that it's actually a different disease with a misdiagnosis?

It took forever for the doctors to finally arrive at a "chronic fatigue syndrome" diagnosis.  This was 15 years ago and it was still relatively "new" at that time.  They tested her for everything under the sun and nothing ever quite fit.  I think people are relieved when they finally are given a diagnosis so maybe CFS is a fancy name for "mystery disease" and they really have no clue what is up?  Not sure.  I do know that it's been a crazy roller coaster watching her go through everything health wise and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Sad

I think you answered your own question.  My sister also has a myriad of mystery symptoms and has received the diagnosis of CFS.  People just want to put a name on something that they can't figure out.  In my families' history, we can pretty much assume that all of our weird symptoms are precursors to cancer.

My random is that I have a $hit ton of work to do, but I find myself lurking ML trying to figure everybody out.  I might be getting into it a little bit, but like Groomz said, I still appreciate that you all are still here.

I had to Google that (Embarrassed) but now get why you said it.  It's interesting they tackled that subject on the show.  Aaaaand...now that theme song is stuck in my head.  Merci.  :-)

My mom has been going to this new doctor who does acupuncture and other random treatments and she has been feeling a LOT better.  He sounds a bit quack-ish to me but if it works then amen sistah!

I'm pretty sure the writers of the Golden Girls invented CFS.

  • Last night I had the strangest dream.  I dreamt that Jimmy and I got a baby, but when we went to pick up the baby, it was just a little wooden snake, but the Social Workers insisted it was a real baby.  So I took it to work in a carseat/chair thing, and my coworker looked at it and said 'that's not a baby, that's just a wooden snake' and I was all 'I thought it might be, but everybody else is pretty sure it's a real baby.  Maybe it's a real baby that just LOOKS like a wooden snake' and then my coworker bit the face off the wooden snake, and I asked her if I should take it to the hospital.  She agreed that I should, just in case it's a real baby.  Then I went to the elevator, and it turned into a baby, but I couldn't see its face.

I think this means I should stop brushing my teeth with red wine.

This reminded me of another complaint.  Miles has been waking up at the crack of dawn every morning (usually at around 5 am).  I'm at the end of my rope with this new schedule he's keeping, and I asked the doctor what to do.  She said that he should be able to sleep for 12 hrs now, so we  have to just leave him in his crib screaming his head off until it's an appropriate time to wake up.  Yeah.  That'll be fun.

  • I had a dream last night that I was in labor but not really feeling anything.  I didn't want people to be disappointed though, so I kept pretending I was feeling contractions every so often.  A nurse came in and insisted I get an epidural since I was clearly in a lot of pain, and I was like, "No, it's not a big deal.  I'm fine."  But she gave me one anyway -- IN MY BRAIN.  She put the needle right through my skull and I could feel it go in and everything on one half of my body went warm.  I remember thinking, "I'm giving this baby to Frank and Been, and the next one is going to Groomz."  Then I was suddenly outside and a foffing lion came up and was sniffing me, so I yelled at it.  Thankfully, it ran off because I was not ready to fight off a lion while in labor.

  • My husband is currently in the ER. He had chest pains last night, not severe, but enought to keep him awake a lot of the night. When he called his doc to make an appt for this morning, he said to just go to the ER because out of the 47 different reasons for chest pain, 1/2 are serious and should be dealt with right away.  Plus, they have better dx equipment there.  From his email updates, it sounds like an inflammation of the lung (not serious), but they are still running tests. Skerry.

And also, WTF.  He's 31.  I'm 33.  I married a younger man to avoid this type of BS for another decade or so.

  • All my new little friends have been very generous with their germs, so now I feel like poo. My face is so hot right now I think it might actually be on fire. I wish I could nap with the kiddos.

But the lunch lady gave me 3 chocolate chip cookies so I'm currently savoring them while I wait for my airborne to dissolve
  • Thanks, guys.  I'm going to the hospital at lunch to meet him, he should have his test results by then.

I kind of feel bad because I'm a total hardasss when it comes to pain/injury/illness.  Last night, I was just sure he ate something weird that was giving him heartburn or he strained a muscle (we just got our carpets cleaned and had to move all our furniture).

My poor kid, he'll be all "mom, my arm's broken" - I'll be, "no its not, here, here's a snoopy bandaid."  Or maybe I'll learn my lesson?!

  • Katie, I hope he's ok and it's nothing serious.

  • How scary katie! I'm pretty quick to tell my husband to buck up and stop being a crybaby over most things so that's probably what I would have done to him. And then he'd never let me live it down. I hope the tests showit's nothing serious.

There is a GTG tonight for my local board and I'm carpooling with some people that I've never met. I'm pretty shy at first so I'm a little nervous but I want to meet people so I am going to go and hopefully have a fabulous time. I might get to meet Kristen!

About 4 years ago I decided to go to a GTG locally and this girl said she'd pick me up.  I said fine even though I usually like to drive (everywhere).  She came, her car stunk of cigarette smoke, but whatever.  Then we get there and she was like, "I have social anxiety so I took a valium before I picked you up.  I take them all the time though so it's no big deal."

I was like (to myself), huh? I wish you would have mentioned the valium thing before I got in the car with you.  If I took a valium I wouldn't be able to drive, so I would just like to know when someone is driving me around somewhat impaired and let me make the decision if that's cool or not. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to make a big thing before we're about to break bread together.

But, I just ate my hibachi and never let anyone pick me up again for gtg's.

  • Katie - yikes. I hope it is nothing. Maybe it's just pleurasy (sp?). My husband said he's had that and it felt like chest pains. Fingers crossed.
