Has anyone volunteered without buying a basket? I was supposed to be going out of town this weekend but that fell through yesterday. It was too late for me to order my basket but I still wanted to volunteer.
Re: BB Volunteer Question
I would still just go even though you didn't order a basket. Maybe they will give you stuff since you volunteered.

I thought that this was how all the sites were suppose to work but I guess the location I go to does not do that.
Jenn, the site we go to will keep giving stuff out until they don't have enough to evenly distribute to the baskets.
ie: they have 53 baskets but only 35 apples leftover. they will let the volunteers have the 35 apples

Ditto. This is how it is supposed to work. If they can't give all of the baskets the same amount of extras, then the volunteers take them home. Except for that one time we had 6 extra boxes of baby bok choy. There just wasn't enough time to distribute that to the baskets, plus the baskets already had more than double what they were supposed to get.
I wish, but they just split them up and put them int he baskets, it's all "relatively" even, but not exactly.
The time I volunteered there was extras of a few things, so they just started at one end and put one thing in each basket until they were gone
hmm maybe every site runs differently.
Interesting...
Does your site get a lot of volunteers? I'm intrigued to find out if the receiving of extras encourages more volunteers
