Puppy Party - need food ideas

Hi all - My 2 year old's birthday party has a puppy theme, as he's obsessed with dogs.  I've got dog decorations, making a dog cake, etc. but I'm stuck with dog food ideas.  I'll likely make dog bone shaped grilled cheese for the kids, but I'd like to work the theme into the adult food (or come up with one food that will work for everyone!).  We've been to a cookout every weekend for the past few weeks, so I'm eliminating hot dogs as a choice.  Any other ideas???  Thanks!!

Re: Puppy Party - need food ideas

  • puppy chow immediately came to mind although if you don't know it's called puppy chow it might no tie in.
  • I get what you want, but really people would rather have tastey food then food that just goes with a theme.  Bone shaped grilled cheese might be cute, but could be a pain in the butt to make during a party.

I'd stick with the decorations and maybe find some cute ways to serve that are dog related- puppy chow (the chocolatey stuff) served in a new, clean dog food bowl.

Love this!  My first thought exactly :)

I agree with this too and there's still plenty of other ways you can incorporate doggy stuff.  My niece had a puppy party and they found bone shaped cookies and scooby snacks.  But keep the food basic & tasty.  You could always label the food and give it a cutesy doggie-related name (not that I have any ideas for you though).

  • We do a party for the 101st day of school that is 101 Dalmatians themed.  For a treat we serve cookies and cream ice cream -like the black and white dogs, and we stick two of those Scooby Snack cookies in it. We have also served puppy chow in the past.
  • i would just serve normal food in big dog dishes if you can find some inexpensive ones.
