Garage Sale Review

I've never organized/held a garage/yard sale before and didn't realize how much freaking work they are!!! Wow. We had a ton of stuff and my Dad was supposed to bring over two folding tables for us to use and then forgot them when he came over the night before the sale ... so we had to improvise a little.

I am so tired of hauling stuff in and out. The rain on Saturday really hurt us cause we had to pack it up around 1, but we managed to sell a bit of stuff between friday and Saturday. I think we're going to try again next weekend since we've already got everything ready still.

Oh, and people buy the most random stuff!!! LOL.

Re: Garage Sale Review

  • We had one also. I actually really enjoyed setting up!! We have 8 long tables and Ron made another one for his stuff. I guess my working in retail helped me ... hahaha.... I probably had the nicest, most organized garage sale ever.

I only advertised on CL & had a sh!t ton of signs in the neighborhood. We beat my goal by $100 so that was cool but we have soooooooooo much stuff left! I had not one person looking for girls baby clothes. I had a ton of 12 month stuff and I still have it! I didn't really have any random stuff out to buy. Ron sold knives and swords which was funny. The guys that came enjoyed looking at that stuff.

  • It is very tiring to have a garage sale.

I always crack up about what people will buy.  LOL

    Booze, it's what's for dinner imageBaby Birthday Ticker Ticker Birth - 7 lbs. 7 oz., 20 inches 1 Month - 9 lbs., 5 oz, 21 inches 2 Months - 11 lbs., 4.5 oz, 23 inches 4 Months - 14 lbs, 1 oz, 26.5 inches 6 months - 16 lbs, 1 oz, 28.75 inches 9 months - 18 lbs, 6 oz, 29.25 inches 1 Year - 21 lbs, 6 oz, 31 inches 2 Years - 28 lbs., 37 inches
  • Kelly, I didn't sell very much of my baby girls clothes either!! People either wanted boy stuff or 18 months, which Charli is just now outgrowing. I did have two halloween costumes out and no one bought those either and I thought for sure they'd go. One is brand new with the tags!!! I think I'm going to take everything to OUAC.

  • Someone on my baby board is  interested in my baby clothes so hopefully she will want them. All them are less then a year old. I had none of Addison's stuff out here. I can't decide if I want to do a resale shop out here either or try and CL them. I will get more from CL or ebay I am sure. I for sure am ebaying the Gymboree stuff.
  • I didn't sell many baby clothes at my garage sale either. Everyone was looking for Toddler clothes. I took all of Jakes winter stuff I hadn't sold to OUAC a few weeks ago and they bought every single item I took in. I'm saving the spring/summer stuff to take in, in March. I've also had good luck selling baby clothes on ebay, even gerber onesies.
  • Just curious, how much did you price yours for?? I kept wondering if my pricing was too high or something.
  • 2 piece sets - $2.50 ~ all were BRU or Kohl's. Nothing from walmart, kmart, not even Target.

Sold some Gymboree for $5 or $6.

    Fleece Sleepers Carters ~ (I had a ton!) - $2

    Jeans - $2

Bigger kids clothes were a tad higher .. all were Aero, Hollister etc. no off brand except some of Jacob's jeans were ON. That stuff was $3 for a shirt or $3.50 for jeans. Some of that stuff sold.

    I sold a NorthFace kids jacket for $20. :/

I know everyone was looking for a bargin. I wasn't getting rid of Aero jeans not even a year old for $1. Aero stuff sells on ebay fairly well.
