So with my 'one month anniversary' coming up next week and since I dont' work and have too much time on my hands I was hoping to cook a special dinner for FI and I. However I'm at a loss of what to make! Usually a special dinner for us involves steak and lots of yummy food but we've eaten lots of steak this summer since we had stocked our freezer with a quarter of beef.
Therefore I am turning to you! What do you ladies like to cook at home for special occasions or a little splurge?
Re: Special Night Dinners
Ohh yes fondue is ALWAYS a treat. :-)
I'm a vegetarian...so all of our meals vary often to keep it interesting, but I don't know if you'd like them since they are sans meat!
So in general, do you guys eat "exotic" often at all? We've been enjoying Indian and Thai recipes lately, and that might be a really fun thing to consider, if it's not something you commonly enjoy.
With Thai or other Asian dishes you can use chopsticks, and serve tea afterward to make it sort of a themed night. Buy orchids for the table!

I like making a pork loin sometimes for a special dinner. DH really likes steak, but I'm not too big of a fan so we trade off, steak, pork loin. They are really easy to marinate, grill or roast.
I've made an oven-roasted spice rubbed pork loin stuffed with prosciutto and cheese a few times. It is really yummy and makes the house smell amazing. PM me if you want me to forward the recipe to you.
If you have ground beef you could make a burrito casserole! This is one of DH's favorite recipes of mine! Its super easy too!
