niagara on the lake rec's?
My husband and I are thinking of heading up to Niagara on the Lake next weekend but have never been before. Im looking for recommendations of things to do and places to stay. We prefer staying at an inn or hotel rather than a B&B. The Wine Festival is going on next weekend so it looks like a lot of hotels are all booked up. One last question, has anyone gone during the wine festival- is it worth going during it or should we wait for another weekend when more rooms are available?
Re: niagara on the lake rec's?
We went last year and stayed in Niagara Falls. Hitting up the wineries pretty much ate up the entire day. We had dinner at The Charles Inn, it was simply fantastic!
I've never done a wine festival there, though. I've been to some here in the Finger Lakes and don't find them to be worth the effort.
We stayed at the White Oaks Resort and Spa last weekend. It was wonderful. It is about a 10-15 minute drive to the heart of NOTL. The room was amazing (we had a suite w/ a fireplace and HUGE jet tub), the spa was overpriced, but top notch, and the restaurants are both wonderful (LIV and Play)
As far as things to do, there are obviously tons of wineries. The main drag- Queen street has lots of cute shops and great restaurants. We always go to the Old Angel Inn for at least a drink, and the food is good too.
