Baby Question

So I have been getting the baby question alot lately. My hubby hardly seems to get asked about it at all. Lately it even seems to turn into a debate when I tell them that we are waiting and if they get pushy I just state that daycare is expensive and we cant afford it yet. I do not want to debate with people over when my hubby and I should have kids and yet more and more people seem to think its apropriate to turn it  into a debate like bc they think we should have kids we should. How do you handle the question and the debaters?

Re: Baby Question

  • My hubby and I have started telling people that we're going to wait for 2012 to blow over. It's become an ongoing joke between us. We've gotten a couple strange looks from people, but hey, it's buying us a couple years, anyway.
  • We don't get asked as often but we did there for a while. We just got married in May 2010 so we're in no hurry. Most people know we want to wait a few years.

My boss actually freaks out when someone at work mentions me having a baby and he over hears. He says you can't have a baby, your too young, you don't need kids, etc. He acts like he's scared to death that I'm going to get pregnant and quit.

  • a superisor where i used to work used to tell me all the time that i needed to get pregnant. I was the only one at the office who had no children... so that was tough. she used to say it daily. Lately its been my mother in law and im having a hard time with her. she just wont stay out of it.. shes got 2 grandchildren already (not mine, my brother in laws). so i thought she would leave us alone, but alas, she has not.
  • I'm really glad my MIL isn't like that. She only has 1 granddaugher at the moment, but I don't think she's in a hurry for more. If she is, she never mentions it at least.

  • I'm really glad that none of our families are like this! I mean most of our family doesn't want us to have kids right now anyways. We just got married in September and we are in no rush. My parents tell me they aren't ready to be grandparents. Right now it's just time to enjoy being newlyweds!
  • Many family members don't understand that you are looking at the bigger picture. I think its smart of you to think about the daycare thing. I use to work a a daycare they are not cheap. I wish our families would think to ask. Instead we get the statement "They aren't doing to have kids for a few years." What they don't know is we have been trying since May 2010. Boy will they be shocked if we get pregnant.

  • My husband and I got married Oct 2010 and he has a 4yr old little boy from a previous relationship. My family would love to have a little one especially my mom because she's still not a grandmother (my older sis still doesn't have children either). Also before my husband and I started dating I never wanted kids but now i would love to have kids with him just not right yet. Anyway my husbands family has a negativity about him having more kids and they spoil my step son. Some comments are really offending to me beacuse it makes me feel like just because he had his little boy at 18 instead of waiting that i have to be punished because i waited. I don't get it. When we do have a child i feel like my family will be the only ones happy other than me and my husband. What if my husbands family treats my step son with more love than the children we have out of feeling sorry for him or just habit? It truly scares me and honestly makes me not want to have children.....  is there anyone with any similarities that have any suggestions to make me feel a little better about it?
