Poll: sleeping in

Sarah's post got me thinking about sleeping in on the weekends.  How late can you sleep in on the weekend and/or days without work or school?

Re: Poll: sleeping in

  • I wish I knew how to sleep in.  It's a miracle if I can stay asleep past 6:30... maybe one day... LOL!
  • I can honestly sleep in past noon.  There, I said it!  But in my defense, most weekends I go to bed around 3am, so sleeping until noon is only 9 hours, lol.

You'll never hear me say, "I'm so used to waking up during the week that I can't sleep in past 9am."  I know this happens to most of us by now, but not me.  It's going to be reeeeeally hard when I have a kid some day!  :)

    DITTO.

but, now with the puppy, one of us is usually up by 9 - at the latest.

  • usually I'm up by 8 on the weekends - maybe 8:30 now and then. Although that would be after going back to sleep after feeding the cat at 6something - she is not a fan of us sleeping in.
  • for those who can sleep until noon - what time do you have to go to wake up during the week? Once I had to start waking up at 5:45 I stopped being able to sleep in super late - probably because staying up until 11 is late to me even on a weekend now too :)

I get up between 5:30 and 5:45 to work out during the week...and i don't go to sleep until midnight, at least! so i try and make up for it on the weekends.

  • Ugh, I used to be able to sleep to 10-11ish.  Now I'm generally up around 8.  But with the heat and not being able to sleep in hot weather I was taking a decent amount of naps on the weekends.  I LOVE naps.  Except that they usually kill me for Mondays.
  • If you let me sleep I will.  Especially if I put on my eye mask.  A few weeks ago I went to bed at 10pm and didn't wake up until 12!  I LOOOOOOVE to sleep.

Usually between 6:00 or 6:30.  DH wakes up at 6 (and sleeps in with me on the weekends) and if I don't get up with him it's b/c I'm using that darn snooze button!

  • I usually get up somewhere between 9 and 10. I never ever ever get up before 8 if I don't have to. I'm almost always asleep by 11pm too. I need a lot of sleep.
  • I dream of sleeping past 730 on weekends...sometimes I'm lucky with an 8, but usually 730.  No matter what time I go to sleep my brain says ok time to get up.  I usually don't mind if I'm in bed by midnight but if I'm up until 2 or later it's annoying.
  • On Saturdays, anytime between 6:00 and 8:00.  But I think it has to do with the fact that our curtains don't keep the sun out very well.  So I either have a lot of energy and will clean the house during that time or will go back to sleep on the couch.

On Sundays I can sleep until 11 or 12 with no problems.

Lately for work I've been getting up at 6:30/7:00.

  • I seriously consider 8am sleeping in. If I make it to 9am then I feel like I've lost half the day. lol. Ted, on the other hand, will wake up around 7 or 8, be up for an hour or so, and then go back to sleep and - if we have nothing to do - sleep until 11. It's kind of annoying. haha
  • I would say I usually sleep for about 6 hours a night regardless of weekday/weekend. During the week I go to bed around 12 and get up at 6. On the weekends I'm usually in bed between 2 and 3 and awake around 9. However, awake does not necessarily mean up. I spend many Saturday/Sunday mornings in bed watching crap TV. I can sleep past noon but it has to be a Really late night. Like 5 or 6am. I only do that once every month or two in my old age.
  • i normally wake up at 605 during the week and it is very unusual if i can sleep past 7am on the weekends! I miss being able to sleep in!!
  • During the week I typically go to bed around midnight and sleep until 6ish.

I also work on Saturdays when I sleep in until 7.  If I happen to have a Saturday off, DH goes to work and I can sleep until 9 or 10.  On Sundays when DH is up, I wake up around 8.  I think I just get excited to have a day off with him!

  • It all depends on how late I stay up. But the latest I can sleep in is around 10am...but those days are few and far between.  Usually it's 7:30 - 8 when I get up.

  • 8 is a good day.  Funny how I can't seem to get up at 8 when I have to!
  • During the week I'm up between 730 and 8 (or 815 ish....) during the weekends I'm usually up around 930 but if we stay up late, I can sleep in until 11 or 12.  Last Sunday we were up until 2 or 3 and woke up around 1230 or 1.  We used to both work second shift so we would go to bed around 2 or 3 and wake up around 1 or 2.
  • Depends how exhausted I am. If I'm not sleep deprived, only 8:30 (I normally wake up at 5:15). Lately I've been able to sleep in until 11, not without waking up several times though.

  • I only sleep 6-7 hours during the week and unfortunately I'm one of those people who function best on 9+ hours of sleep....I guess I was just born to sleep...lol During the week I get up around 5:30-5:45 so I like to catch up on the weekends. If DH is home we usually get up by 9, if DH has to work (usually Sundays I can easily sleep 10-11 hours and get up at 10a or 11a. I try to get up by 9:30 otherwise I feel like I'm wasting the day.

  • Actually, it?s kind of sad. My body won't let me sleep in! I wake up at my regular time (6am) and then stay up for an hour or so. Most times I'm able to go back to sleep after being up for an hour.  Once I'm back in the bed, I can usually sleep until noon.

  • I'm normally up during the week between 6 & 6:30, so on the weekends, I normally sleep until about 8 or 8:30. 8:30 at the latest. Unless I was up really late the night before & went out drinking. In that case I'll make myself stay in bed & sleep to get rid of the hangover! LOL Stick out tongue

     This!

I can (and have in the past year) sleep in until 2 in the afternoon, but that's only after a very late night.  If I just shut the curtains and go to bed at a reasonable time I'll sleep to 9:30-10 ish.
