Dog Boarding

Hello: We've been bringing our dog to Dog Days Atlanta for the last 6 mos or so once a week for day camp. Having no family in the area we thought it would be helpful to have her get comfortable there in the event we ever needed to board her. It also gives her a chance to socialize and come home nice and tired. We're planning to go out of town next weekend and plan on her staying there for a few nights. I was a little disappointed when I learned that there are no humans that stay on the premises over night but I'm hearing more and more that this is common at boarding facilities. Are there any in the Atlanta area that have 24-hr human supervision? I'm just a bit nervous as this will be her first time away from home and we will not be in the area. She's spending the night there tonight as a test run and I'm hoping it goes well. Any recommendations would be most helpful. TIA

I am not aware of any doggy daycare or boarding facilities in town that have someone stay overnight. I know of one in town that does a midnight potty visit to hold the dogs over until the morning, but I don't recommend them at all. I have a couple of friends that use Dog Days for daycare/boarding and love it. If your pup is familiar with the facility and staff, and you are comfortable with them, I would board there. I wouldn't move to a new facility for your dog's first overnight stay. JMHO.

Ditto Amy. Wagalot leaves them at night also, it's just par for the course. I am super-duper careful when it comes to my dog, but I am comfortable wih this procedure.

My husband and I were abroad for 3 week this past summer. We boarded our pupster (a miniature poodle) at "Must Love Dogs" in Marietta. This place is awesome, but like many others no one stays there all night long. However, someone comes in around 11pm and stays until about 12:30 am. Anyhow, "Must Love Dogs" took super great care of my boy while we were gone for such an extended period of time. They don't charge extra for anything (except for the doggie ice cream treats they offer at your request). I feel that they were nurturing with my dog and at the same time allowed him to be a dog and play with other dogs his size all day long! Extra bonus... they love when you call and/or email to check in. They are really prompt about emailing back, which is great. Also, they post pics everyday of the dogs having fun! It was so reassuring to log onto their website and see pictures of my pupster romping around with other dogs and  playing in the kiddie pool. Hands down, the best facility around!

 Barking Hound has someone who lives upstairs and has to be there staring at 10pm but you couldn't pay me to leave my girls in that place. Spot for Dogs has someone who sleeps there over night and I didn?t hate the facility. But I use Doguroo even though the overnight concerns me, after seeing about 25 places in Atlanta I felt the most comfortable there.
