When did you find out your LO needed a helmet? Avery has a flat spot and we're doing everything we can do keep her off of it but we dont want the other side to go flat as well.
Re: Sorry, Jackie*
Hey! Long time no see
The pedi brought it up to us at his 2 month appointment and said to reposition him. We did, it didn't work. At our 4 month appointment they said to reposition and gave us some stretches to do to loosen his torticollis. Again, it didn't work. We were rechecked at 5 months and referred to the specialist.
Ryan was born with a flat head because I was in labor for 15 hours, then had a c/s because my pelvis was too narrow for a vaginal delivery. So his head was pushing down due to active labor for 15 hours, resulting in his flat head.
We got on Monday for another check, and he might be done with helmet therapy (except for at night)!
He doesn't mind the helmet at all, and actually gets kind of crabby when we take it off!
That's great that he might be done with it. We've tried to keep her on the other side, position her different ways, etc. But her right side is flat, there's no doubt about it.
The pedi said that we needed to stretch her neck so it doesn't get locked up and they have to go in and do surgery to release the muscles/tendons/etc. I'm really not sure how to keep her from laying on that side b/c she's learned to shift herself to get away from the towel we have under her back.
I feel like a failure for her having this problem, but I can't seem to get her to cooperate.. stubborn chick.
