Zeke's first trip to the vet!

So DH and I took our new rescue puppy, Zeke, to the vet for the first time today.  We were a little nervous for how he would act, as well as the cost.  Turns out, it was all okay!  Heck, it was great!  Z

Zeke loved his vet, and really only got nervous when he had to go up on the table.  Once he was up there, the vet opened up a little jar of baby food and let Zeke eat it while he got examined and got a booster shot.  Zeke didn't even flinch because he was so into eating his baby food!

And the cost was significantly less than we expected, 62 bucks!  We were thinking, mostly because of the shot, that it would be well over a hundred.  We're really pleased with the vet that we took him to, and will certainly be going back.  He loved it!

  • YAY! Easy & cheap vet visits are always the best! :)

  • Yes, indeed they are!  That frontline plus is a killer though; we're looking at $18.95 per treatment if we get it through the vet.  DH and I told them we'd think about it and get back to them if we want to by it through them.  We'll probably try to find it elsewhere, if we can.
  • Awww I'm glad that Zeke did great at the vet and the visit was cheap. Colt went to the vet last week, and he did great as well! And we were lucky enough to find a cheap vet too!! It cost us 92 dollars and he needed meds for his eyes, ears, and a bottle of ear wash. We also bought the heartworm while we were there and it only cost 35 for 6 months! I didn't think that was bad at all. We had never been to this vet and it turns out they were VERY friendly and they went above and beyond for us. How is Zeke doing besides the vet trip???

That's great news about finding a vet you guys like!  Zeke's doing really well lately, thanks for asking!  He's very snuggly and getting even more attached to DH and I.  He has recently discovered that he's allowed in our bed (only when we're not sleeping in it), and it's pretty funny to watch him try to get in there.  The only problem we seem to be having right now is crate training.  It's just a major PITA all around.  He always seems to pee in his crate, no matter if we take him out right before or not.  I think it reminds him of living in his kennel at the rescue; he gets so scared when we head downstairs to put him in there.  It's just something we'll have to keep working on with him.

How's Colt?  Is he warming up to you guys a little bit more?  He's just such a cute puppy!

  • Awwwwwwww!!! :)

We got our rescue dog last Thursday night, and we took her to the vet on Monday night, just to have a checkup. (She's current on all shots but will need some more this October and November.) The cost was only $37, which was less than we expected :)
