couple questions from a fellow nestie
I posted on here a couple of months ago about possibly coming up to the area for vacation. Well, we will be flying into Portland Friday night.
First question - when we leave our flight leaves at 1:30 on Saturday, how far in advance do we need to be at the airport from your experience?
Second question - we are staying 3 nights in Cannon Beach and I am needing to get some suggestions on things to do. Maybe restaurant recs, must do activities, etc.
Thank you ladies in advance!!
Re: couple questions from a fellow nestie
As far as the airport goes, our airport is easy to navigate and honestly I've never shown up more than 90 minutes before a flight and have had PLENTY of time to get through security and what not.
As for Cannon Beach....I LOVE it there. Things to do: walk on the beach obviously, make sure to go up near Haystack Rock during low tide so you can see the tidepools. If the weather is OK, you can rent the trike bikes and ride them on the beach...it's a lot of fun and an easy way to see the beach! Ecola State Park is also beautfiul with fabulous views of Cannon Beach.
There are lots of art galleries in town which are fun to wander into. You must stop at Bruce's candy shop for some saltwater taffy and the Picnic Basket for amazing fudge. The restaurant near the Surf Sand Resort is right on the water and is pretty good but pricey. The name escapes me at the moment but it's right by the only big resort in CB. There is a glass blowing studio where you can watch the glass being blown which is cool to watch.
If you're up for strenuous hiking, I'd recommend going to the top of Neahkanie Mountain near Manzanita. The view from there is spectacular. Manzanita itself is also a cute little town. Check out the Tillamook Cheese factory and the Blue Heron where you can taste wine and cheese. Or go to the Nehalem Bay winery which is locate between Tillamook and Manzanita.
Driving the Three Capes Loop ijust south of Tillamook s also a great thing to do. You'll find some cute light houses on the way.
