I HAVE INTERNETS!!!!
 
So after the "installation" Tuesday (which the guy didn't file paperwork on until Wednesday), the company had originally told us that they then had to mail out the cable modem/tv box (because it would make WAY too much sense to actually have those items present when the installer was at the house, right?) and that was going to take 5-7 business days to mail (not counting post time).
 
When I told that to H, he was like, "Oh, hell no."  On the warpath, he hopped on his bike (kind of ruins the image, no?) rolls up to their B&M location and basically told them he wasn't leaving without the equipment in hand (and dropping a few lines like, "if they can't get their act together, he'll just install the goddamn thing himself").
 
The thing that kills me is that they completely acknowledge that their system is stupid and actually uttered the words, "But that's just the way we do things."  I thought H would have an aneurysm, haha.
 
So, hello again all!

  • Glad you have internet.  It only took us eight weeks to get our box and have it hooked up. Confused

    I do have to say though, the mental image of your H furiously pedaling his bike through Amsterdam was the first time I've smiled all day.  Thank You.

    It took 6 weeks for our internet/tv/phone to be installed CORRECTLY after we moved, it's so frustrating. I can feel your joy from here!!!

    We've been in our house for 9 months now and we still can't use the phone and then internet at the same time!

    I can totally identify with this on their end, though. The people who have to actually DO the procedures are never the ones that INVENT the procedures. Some guys in suits that have no idea what it's like wrote up what everyone should do, and then don't want to hear about it when people who actually have to do it say that it doesn't work that well. I've totally been there, shrugging at the customer and saying, "yup, it's dumb."
