Site Hosting Suggestions

Hey nesties..

Looking to host my first website in a while and seeing if there are any suggested hosting services out there...looking to see what's new in space since I did this last.  Would like something relatively inexpensive.

TIA

Re: Site Hosting Suggestions

  • I like godaddy.com
  • I've been using Dreamhost for five years or so now, and I really like them.  Very affordable, a great web interface, and a surprising amount of flexibility and control for a hosted site.

And I have so much web space that I can keep full-res copies of all of our favorite photos on my web space (to share with family, or just to keep on their servers as an off-site backup).

They're pretty reasonable (I think they start at $8.95/month), but thanks to the referral program, you can get $50 off a new one-year plan with a referral (use promo code GILLIC50).

  • Another happy Dreamhost customer - I've been with them for almost eight years and been nothing but happy with their level of service and their prices. I host about 30 domains on one account and have never run out of bandwidth or storage.
  • I would recommend against Hostgator. They were okay for years, but if your site grows, they always point problems at your site.

  • I like Aplus. They had a bad rap for awhile, but they have been bought out by larger company and I have been very happy.  There are a lot of nice features available through your hosting panel and the hosting plans are reasonable.
  • I design websites/blogs and for hosting I usually recommend Host Gator, Blue Host, or Dream Host.  Go Daddy is usually not recommended as much as a lot of designers have had problems with them.  I do recommend them for domain registration though.  I am an affiliate for a lot of them so I get a lot of coupon codes and special deals.  If you are interested email me at sarah at theblogarista.com.
