What do you do after work?

When I get home from work, I sometimes feel...bored?  I need to find things to do.

Do you:

Cook?  (Every night??)

Clean?

Laundry?

Work out? Do something active?

Play with your kids?

Watch TV?

Continue to work / work two jobs?

Play on the computer? Update your blog?

Other???

Re: What do you do after work?

  • I cook when I have time/energy.  Lately that has not been as often as I would like so I have been trying to cook on the weekends so we can have leftovers for at least the first half of the week.

I have been doing a lot of cleaning lately.  I'm actually pretty excited about the progress that we are making.  For the longest time I have felt anxious about how cluttered our apt is but I have been tackling small projects each day and it is really paying off.  In the past 2 days I have filled 2 green lawn garbage bags!  And we have about 7 paper grocery bags + a big box to go to charity.

But all of this is in between play times with Amelia.  She is starting to be more interactive and so we do our "wiggles" every night.  Just play time to help her get used to moving her arms and legs and build up her strength.

  • I usually cook, clean up then use the remainder of the night to play with the dog and watch tv or a movie with K. We just got Netflix so that has been majority of our entertainment recently.

We usually do laundry on the weekends, and I work out in the AM before work (when I rarely decide to exercise).

Sometimes I'll surf online a little but I do most of that on my lunch hour at work :)

  • A non-lazy day: Get home, give the dog some love and then some food, play on the computer for a few, go to the gym, come home and take Rufus for a short run, shower, cook dinner, eat with DH while watching tv, and then watch tv until bed.

A lazy day:  Get home, give the dog some love and then some food, play on the computer for a few hours, walk Rufus, cook dinner or order in, eat with DH while watching tv, and then watch tv until bed.

We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • Depends on the day but typically I get home around 6, clean up the clutter/do a load of laundry/run errands, make some dinner, go for a walk with DH and the dogs or do a quick yoga tape (on really motivated days I go to the gym after work but that hasnt happened in quite some time), play on the computer/update my blog/watch tv.

If I'm feeling lazy that might all be shortened to pop some popcorn or order some food and then watch tv.

  • I get home around 7pm and DH has dinner waiting for me (lucky, no?). We usually eat and then do dishes together. After that, we watch some TV and go to bed around 9pm so we only have about 2 hrs at night. We usually read until around 10 and then I fall asleep.

I work out in the mornings at 5am, hence the early bedtime. I usually do laundry all day Sunday in between cooking meals that DH can reheat during the week.

  • It varies by the day, but usually it is the same. I come home and study a little bit then I either go to class or cook dinner. And on nonclass nights I clean, too. I don't cook every night, but we try to eat out only once or twice a week, so we do quite a bit of cooking. On class night I am there for 5 hours. That is about it really. I usually get on the computer and check my email, TN, and whatever else interests me. Sometimes I feel bored, too. Especially when Jason is working a lot. But, now that school is back in I don't have much down time.

  • I'm still trying to find a rhythm myself. Problem is, when I go from "summer break" into "fall semester," the shock to my system is insane. It's seriously stupid, but I get so used to my lazy schedule that now my three full days (including commute, 8-6:30, M/T/W) is exhausting me. And now I have a stupid cold. Ugh.

    Anyway, here's what normally happens:

If I have errands, I stop on my way home. If I come home first, they simply won't get done because I won't go back out.

If DH is going to be home for dinner, I start prepping that. I'll also do some "picking up" around the house (living room, dining room, kitchen). Sometimes I'll throw in a load of laundry or dishes. Once he's home, we'll eat dinner. Sometimes we'll watch TV or a movie together.

Then I head for the computer...

On the computer, I'll work on my thesis, homework, or creative writing. Sometimes I'll update my blog. I spend way too much time on Facebook. From there, I'll usually get ready for bed and watch TV or read until I fall asleep.

  • 1. Change into my jammy jams.

    2. Quick run through of FB, Twitter, and J9

    3. Make dinner. Eat dinner.

    4. Kitchen cleanup.

    5. Computer and TV

    6. Bedtime.

    Fascinating, I know.
