Favorite things to do with a kid?
We are moving to SD in 5 months. We are so excited. By that time, our son will be 16 months old, what are some things to do with him while not making us super bored.
Is Sea World age appropriate for him? You can give me all kinds of ideas, i'm not set on 1 certain thing, so throw them all out there.
TIA
Re: Favorite things to do with a kid?
There are many things to do with a kid in San Diego. I'd definitely suggest getting an annual pass to the zoo. We're getting one for the family so that when I have my little one we can go out and walk around.
Sea World has age appropriate attractions for a 1 1/2 year old but you probably wont want to spend all day there (kids get tired...) so you might want to wait for the deals where if you buy a pass for the day than you get the whole year for free.
I also love taking my nephews to balboa park to play around and love going to the beaches as well. There are some nice parks in different areas of the city so I'd definitely look around the area you're moving to for ideas.
Learning to start all over again... Blog
All of the above (we have annual passes to the Zoo (which includes the WAP) & Seaworld. Balboa Park is a lot of fun to walk around, and during the Summer they also have the carousel open there as well as the mini-train. Also, on Tuesdays many of the museums are FREE http://www.balboapark.org/calendar/detail.php?EventID=370
Are you a SAHM? If so, you can join a local playgroup in your area. It's a great way to meet other Moms, and also kids that are your son's age. I've made lifelong friends through my daugher's playgroup, as has my daughter!! You can go to http://www.sandiegoparent.com/ this web address also has some other great resources.
Below is a list of other things we love to do in SD and are all age appropriate for a 1 & 1/2 year old:
Java Mama (located in La Mesa). I meet my girlfriends here for coffee/espresso/food etc and we let the kids play. I've even taken Belle there to play and I sit, relax, and read a book. http://www.javamama.com/
My Kids Clubhouse (Poway). Great indoor play area, especially on rainy days (yes, we do have some http://www.mykidsclubhouse.com/
Kidsville (Poway). Another great indoor play area. http://www.kidsvilleplayland.com/
Seaport Village (Downtown SD). A neat place to walk around that has many fountains and a great carousel.
There are many other things to do here, but those should get you started The best thing about SD is that you can go to the beach or the park pretty much any day of the year, so there's always lots to do.
Hope that helps!!
You ladies ROCK! thank you so much for giving me all the tips. We were going to get a membership to the zoo, and also Sea World, the pay for a day, get in free.
thank you so much. I'm off to look at the san diego parent website!!!
