Where do you shop for...

Inexpensive work clothes?

I'd really like to get a couple more work-appropriate dresses, along with a new suit, but I am cheap.as.hell.  (no, seriously, I scoff at any price tag over ~$20, lol!)

I know quality is important and you have to pay for it and blahblah, but I need some new pieces and just can't afford the really nice stuff, so....  help me out? :)

Re: Where do you shop for...

  • I'm so mom like so I usually shop at Kohls. :o)

However, I did go to Hollister w/ dd for school clothes and I saw some cute tops for my vacation. Just wondering if I would be way to old to sport Hollister stuff! HaHa.

Besides Kohls I plan on going to Clothes Mentor in Perrysburg for my clothes for my trip. I need nice evening type clothes for dinner!

Most of my current work clothes are totally from Kohl's, lol.  I just feel like I can't quite find everything I'm looking for there.  Either that or it's just that I suck at shopping b/c I get really impatient trying to look through lots of racks, hah.

  • have you tried tj maxx?
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • check out elder beerman...they are doing their goodwill sale... you donate an item in the store and get a 20% off coupon which you can use on their yellow dot clearance.  down here most of that stuff is already 65% off and some is more.
  • Kohl's or JCpenney. can find some good used things at Plato's Closet or Clothes Mentor i think it is called.

  • Ditto Kohl's and Penney's.

NY&Company also has nice clothes, I think, and there's usually coupons floating around so that you can get a pretty good deal on their clothes.

  • I like JcPenney too. Their Worthington line is work appropriate and still has things with "flair"  plus if you watch it will go 40-50% :)
  • Thanks for all of the recommendations!!!   I'm browsing websites and finding stuff I like already! :)

  • I always buy my work clothes at NY&Co, you get great deals with their coupons, and usually before Christmas they do 50% off everything and you can combine that with coupons.
  • Kohl's, JC Penney, TJ Maxx, Outlet Malls...  You can usually find decent printable coupons for Kohl's and JC Penney, too.  Sometimes, I'll scour the Macy's & Dillard's sale racks/sections, too - including in the juniors sections.
  • I usually shop at Kohl's/JCP/Sears.

I hate shopping in TJ Maxx. I don't know if the ones up there are any better but it always seems SO unorganized to me and it just drives me nuts.

But I know you have long legs like me, I usually have good luck with Maurice's for black or gray dress pants.

This is my routine too, minus the junior sections...don't want to show up to work wearing the same clothes as my students...I hate it when that happens, they should be the ones feeling dumb, but it is always me, lol.

  • We have uniforms for work, but I usually get my pants at Khols or Platos Closet. I LOVE Platos Closet, I usually find cute things for cheap.

  • I wear scrubs at work, but I can give you some suggestions b/c I LOVE to clothes shop!!!

NY&Co for sure if you get the coupons.  Also, Gap offers a coupon booklet in the store for 40% off any item on Wednesdays, which is a pretty good deal.   Their new "Black Magic" pants (dress pants) are supposed to be AWESOME - I do not own a pair myself but the girls on the F&B board rave about them - they come in several styles/lengths and colors.

Target has wonderful Merona brand cardigans that are very inexpensive and come in a ton of colors.  Cardis are really popular right now too. For blouses and such to wear under jackets/cardis I'd check Forever 21.  A lot of the clothing in there is very garish and "teenager-y" and typically I am not a fan of women shopping in the Jr. dept for clothing, but this is my only exception to that....if you are willing to dig a bit (and tolerate the blaring music) they have some great blouses/cardigans and accessories (scarves, purses, necklaces, shoes, etc) and they are CHEAP!!!!

  • Basically everything I own work clothes wise is from NY&C.  I have a number of things from Charlotte Russe and then a random assortment of Kohls, etc.
