I didn't even realize you responded.  Sorry.

Sorry to hear about your knee issues.  How are you handling lifting with it?

That beginning workout doesn't sound too bad!  For the next 4 weeks I'm doing supersets which has be running around the gym to get it done.  I do 20-25 reps in one set of whatever then the next set is working a different muscle.  So I am doing something like this:

20 reps of bicep curls

15 reps of tricep kickbacks

15 reps of bicep curls

12 reps of tricep kickbacks

and so on.  3 sets of each alternating between the two per set.  It's interesting but annoying when the gym is busy.

What gym do you go to?

  • Not sure which gym you go to but I'm hitting the Temecula LA Fitness tonight for Zumba.

  • Hey! sorry I didn't respond earlier- I was at Sea World today!! :)

I actually go to 24-hour fitness... I was going to look into LA fitness too- to see if I could hit double the zumba, lol!  Probably not- but it is fun to think about :)

Your workout sounds good too! It is tough to do intervals with a busy gym- learned that one today.  I went to do workout #2 of NROL4W and had to wait a little longer than prescribed between intervals.  Today was 2x 15 of each of the following:

    Dead Lifts (90 lbs today)

    Lat Pulldowns

    Shoulder presses

    Lunges

Situps on Swiss ball (only 2x10 reps for swiss ball)

The lunges are the hardest with my knee.  The good thing is that it isn't tons of pain all of the time- only when i'm trying to bend it really- and it is only a sharp pain at the end if I go too far.  It is a ruptured PCL so not a whole lot they can do for me according to the surgeon and the Internet :(  So my main goal is to lose a LOT of weight, and work on my strength- so weightlifting is a total must right now... maybe light on the legs, but I'm going to really push my upper body for sure!

  • If you ever want to hit LA Fitness let me know. My membership allows me to have 2 guests each time with no questions asked. They don't try to sign you up or anything. I don't think we live too crazy far from each other. I wanted to try Zumba at the Murrietta gym and hopefully find a better one at the Temecula one. The one I went to in Temecula sucked so bad. I think that chick teaches in Murrietta too. She was terrible.

  • Cool- thanks!

I'm kind of out of commission right now- I got hurt last weekend so I probably won't be able to work out for a couple of weeks... but after that, bring it on :)

  • Ouchie! I just read about it. Sorry to hear. I know you were all into working out. Hope you stay motivated. I know how hard it can be after a break.

  • Question for ya. I saw awhile back that you had furlough days. What dept do you work for? I just was hired on w/ Riverside County.

  • Yeah- I'm already missing Zumba- it sucks :(

I work for the CA Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation. So it is a state agency.  We get 3 furloughs / month... both H and I work for the state, so a total of 6 unpaid days off each month :(

What are you doing for the county??

  • I'll be working at the sheriff's dept in accounting.  I have to start at the entry level which sucks pretty bad and it's a pay cut but I just needed my foot in the door.

Corrections is where I ultimately want to be.
