I can't even begin tell you guys. I'm giddy and absolutely beyond thrilled. Each night before bed I've been thumbing through it a bit more. It gives specifics on self-sustaining homesteads whether you have space for a small herb garden up to multiple pastures for livestock. Preserving, canning, freezing, meat processing, wine making, beekeeping, fruits, nuts, teas, EVERYTHING.
find. this. book. You will not regret it. The best part? DH found me reading it and started flipping through it. He'd already promised me chickens when we get back to the mainland US, but after looking through the book himself he brought up making sure we get enough land to be able to do something like this eventually. ::faints::
Re: I've found true love, and it is a paperback novel
I picked this up from the library the other day! Weird! It was just sitting on a shelf, waiting for me.
My only issue with the book is how they suggest having a quarter acre plot of land. Yeah. We have 0.06 acres. So I don't know how much of it is going to apply to us. But I liked the layouts for the herb gardens, so I will probably start there. I just got really discouraged when I sat down to read it b/c right off the bat I felt inadequate with my measly backyard.
