Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

This annoys me

And it always has, but I notice it is more prevalent here than in Boston.

You make a dinner reservation- whether it is by phone or opentable.com

The restaurant calls you to confirm, but makes you call them back if they leave a vm to "confirm the reservation."

WHY? Why do they need me to call them back? They obviously reminded me in their voice mail. I made the reservation, afterall. 

It just annoys me to no end and ALL of the restaurants here do it.

  • That would annoy me too.  Totally unnecessary, and I would think they wouldn't want to have to field all those extra, overkill phone calls.

  • i agree... it'd be different if they left a voicemail asking you to call back if you can't make the reservation. but having everyone call back just to re-confirm is silly.

  • They sound needy.  I wonder if they get a lot of no-shows?  I would be annoyed, too.
  • OMG, I hate this too! It's the worst because who has time to call them back and I rarely listen to VM's anyway!
  • This annoys me as well.  I had a salon appt a couple of weeks ago and they did the same thing. 
  • I don't like it either. And I find it double-annoying when I've made the reservation online. I don't want to use the phone! Haha, now I sound like a brat...

    This is my thing. I do not do the phone more than I have to. So it's 10x more annoying for this reason!
