Marriage & regular counselors

Anyine have recommendations for counselors? I wouldn't say DH & I have a bad relationship but we have some old issues creeping up over and over and just need someone to help us get past them and be done with it. I'm also looking to talk to someone by myself. My mom seriously f'd me up some...I know I'm not as bad as I could be but again just want to put this in the past as much as possible. Thx!

Re: Marriage & regular counselors

  • i dont have any experience with this myself, but someone on another board that i frequent posed the same question and the overwhelming response was to check with your insurance company. they should have a list of counselors which would be covered at least partially by your insurance. then you can set up "interviews" with a few until you find someone that you feel you are compatible with.

    good luck!

  • I agree with checking with your insurance company.  There should be a phone number on the back of your cards for mental health services.  Another option is to check with your religious advisors to see if they offer any counseling.  If you're Christian, His Creation ministries has been recommended before and they have a webpage.  Thinking of you!

  • I can't make any recommendations either, but do you or DH have an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) at work?  They usually offer 3 free sessions and can recommend counselors.
  • I see TJ at the Blue Mountain Lotus Society on Jonestown Road in Harrisburg.  He is AMAZING and has helped me a lot with personal issues.  I know he does couples counseling as well.

My DH and I see  James Eash at 717-540-1313.  He's really been helping us work through our communication issues.

    Good luck to you!
