non-cheesy shower games

I'm helping plan a bridal shower for a friend and I'm in charge of games and favors....anyone have any ideas for unique shower games?  or shower favors?   Thanks so much.

Re: non-cheesy shower games

  • You could do bubble bath salts in a glass container..and put on the tag, "thanks for showering the bride-to-be"

You can get the glass jars at Michael's or Old Time Pottery..Or you could get little travel sizes bb from Bath & Body WOrks, and tie a ribbon around them and put them in a cute basket by the door, and whatever is left over give to the bride to put in her new guest bath!

  • The game that's alway a hit in all the showers I've hosted/attended is the purse game.

You write down a list of thing commonly found in a purse and add a bunch of outrageous things such as condoms, bras, underwares, "personal massager" lol, etc.*

Have the group set up per table and each person select a representative when you call out the item they need to hand it to the rep and the rep has to stand up raise there hand and yell. Depending on how many people are there I do the first table to 5 or the first table to 10.

*I like to personalize it for the couple. I ask for pictures of the couple (not on the cell phone), their business cards. If they like Disney I ask to see if anyone has Disney tickets in their purse.

  • A game that isn't really a game is when a person writes down what the bride says as she open the present. Then you read them back to everybody and say things that the bride is going to say on her wedding night.

It can be VERY funny. It can get a little risque, but it is all in good fun.

For example, the bride could pick up a present and say"I have no idea what tis is or how it works. My goodness, I have never seen anything like this. Oh thank you . . . wow that is huge!" It works really well is people are younger and not uptight.

This way, you can play a game without anybody knowing it is a game. (You obviously don't tell the bride you are writing things down and the person who is writing can tailor make something into a really good story.)

This is the only non cheesy game I know of.

  • I was just flipping through a magazine and saw a cute favor idea: Little baby food jars, emptied, and filled with flower seeds. Tie a little bow around it with a note asking them to plant the flowers when the baby is born.

A game I did at my sisters shower, since there were lots of kids there it was very funny, we had balloons decorating the room and inside each balloon we stuffed a name inside, at the end of the party everyone had to pop the balloons with their butt to find the baby's  name. Whoever found it first one.

There always the classic, guess how many candies in the baby bottle...(just dont do what someone did at the last shower and write the # on the bottom.)

You could also have everyone write down on a note card something nice or that they love about the mom to read to lift spirits while in the hospital or right after the baby is born if ever feeling sad. Or have them write a tip they swear by or that their mom always told them about taking care of babies.

My last one I promise...have everyone draw a picture (on a small piece of paper or card stock) to make into a bigger picture for the baby's room, or into a story book later for the baby.

    HTH! :-)
