Moving to St. Louis ... where to live?
Hi, I'm new to the bored ... technically not married yet, but I may be relocating to St. Louis for a new job and to be with my fiance.
Does anyone have recs for apartments or other places to live? My fiance and I are interested in living in the city as newlyweds and then possibly moving to the suburbs when we are ready to buy a home and have a family.
We are also interested in the industrial loft-style apartment (I'd be moving in first, and then he'd join me when we get married).
Thanks for your help!
Re: Moving to St. Louis ... where to live?
Near Maryland Heights, actually, but my fiance and I are thinking about living downtown for a few years, mainly because he works in Alton and needs to live within an hour of Lambert Airport for work.
What about Cupple Station, those look nice and reasonably priced (the proximity to Busch Stadium is certainly appealing to my fiance).
It's not an absolute requirement to live in a loft-type apartment, it's just a dream we both have.
I was born and raised in St. Louis and lived their for 27 years of my 29 years of life. Downtown St. Louis is not really that great. It may seem like living downtown in a city seems fun, hip and young, but St. Louis downtown is not like other cities. It just recently had a redo with Washington Ave. and the loft style living, but overall it is dangerous and there is not much down there besides over-priced bars and boutiques and that is only on Washington Ave. Other than that most people do not live downtown and only come there to go to sporting events.
I agree with the other girl about the CWE - Central West End. It is slightly safer, cleaner and more young professional. Plus it is close to Forest Park and you can get to downtown very easy. I lived there for 2 years.
Another area that is my fav is Soulard, which is right next to downtown. It has a "New Orleans" feel to at and the night-life and resturants are great.
