speechless

My sister went back to the dr and apparently her % went up of her chance of developing breast cancer. I'm so upset for her and so totally clueless on what to even say at this point. I'm not sure what precautionary measures they are telling her to take, she didn't really say much.

We might attend a local hospital for a dinner and awareness thing about breast cancer. One of my friends from high school is giving a speech about her decision to get a preventive masectomy.

Re: speechless

  • I don't know what to say either but :::hugs::: I hope she beats the percentage
  • Oh Pam I'm so sorry.... **Hugs** I hope everything is ok and I think the dinner and Awareness thing is a great idea!
  • I'm so sorry Pam. My aunt is going through chemo right now for breast cancer and has been doing a lot of research. She was telling me a good way to lower your risk of it reoccuring is to keep a healthy weight. I just thought I'd throw it out there. She said she had about a 40% risk of redeveloping breast cancer if she was overweight and it dropped dramatically if she remains at a healthy weight (she also tried to drive this point home with my mom who had breast cancer and is overweight to motivate her to slim down).
  • :-( sorry to hear this pam! I'm keeping her in my thoughts. Keep your head up. And I think its a great idea that you guys go to that!

has your sister given an option on the preventative mastectomy?
