Shower ideas

Hey ladies, I'm throwing a Bridal Shower for my almost sister in law next month. It's a lingerie shower because she is not really the traditional bride. She's more the anti-bride. We're decorating in her favorite color purple and black lace with martinis and chocolates. But I need help with decoration ideas and fun stuff to do without it being cheesy or too raunchy.

Here are the invitations...I love Etsy!

And the cupcake wrappers(I love this idea I think I need to start making these)

Anyone have any ideas or share something you had at our own showers you really appreciated? TIA!

Re: Shower ideas

  • ummm at my bridal shower this last weekend my sister has made these tissue paper like pom pom things you hang from the ceiling ? they were super easy to make she said and really brought the room to like with the colors of the theme? let me see if I can find a picture with them in it?

ETA... ok lets see if this works... I had to make it a little smaller....

  • I've always loved this one....

As the bride opens her gifts, take notes on a piece of paper with three columns. In the first column, write the names of the gift givers, and in the second, describe the gifts. This will be useful to the bride when she goes to write Thank You notes. In the third column, write down the bride's comments as she opens each gift. The title of the third column should be What the Bride Might Say on Her Wedding Night. When all the gifts have been opened, read the results. Exclamations such as, "Ooh! What's this?", "Oh (name of gift giver)!", or "Oh my God, it's so soft!" will be good for a giggle.

Instead of the game where you have each guest pair up in teams and race to make a wedding dress out of toliet paper, you can do that and have them make bra's? or lingerie?

Popouri satchels would be cool for everyone's own lingerie drawers at home for the favors.

Those are cute! Do you know how she made them? And maybe how long it took her?

I forgot to mention that the shower is in California and I'm flying up the day of so I only have a few hours to decorate and put everything together so I'm trying to get done what I can here and pack up everything to bring with me.

  • I like the idea of the pom-poms, however be sure to try making them ahead of time- I tried to make them for my baby shower and they turned out horrible!  Some people say they're really easy, but I had a lot of trouble with them (and I'm usually pretty crafty!).

For decor I would do purple tableclothes (plastic would be fine) with black lace overlay- there's a super cheap fabric store on Indian School just west of the 51 called Fabric By the Pound-- they're SUPER cheap and you'll definately be able to find black lace there.  I would go to Walmart or F21 and pick up cheap black lace bras and panties to hang from a clothesline.  If you wanted to do flower arrangements, I would pick up purple flowers and curly willow from Michaels, then spray paint it black (a little spray glittered would look really cool as well!).

I also love doing a signature cocktail to serve to guests as they enter the party, here are a few ideas for purple cocktails (the blueberry martini might be the easiest):

    Then think of a cute nickname, like a bride-tini / bra-tini / pan-tini.

  • I like this idea too. We had a signature cocktail at our wedding and had a lot of fun with it. I definitely won't turn down the opportunity to "have to" taste test drinksWink
  • I don't know if it'd be redundant, as I know it's a lingerie shower, but I always thought this was a cute game:

Have each guest buy a pair of panties for the bride-to-be.  Hang them up accross the room, or along a wall using ribbon & clothes pins (or whatever other way you think up)  The bride has to try to guess who bought which pair of undies.  It works as decoration, and the bride gets lots of new undies.

So there were a total of ten she had hung up here but I think she had some extras she didn't use... I would imagine, depending on how many you will need it would only take an hour or less to assemble them without puffing thin up... that just takes a few moments... her is the link from where she got the idea....

This is when my crafty side kicks in and I says, I can totally make those. And my frugal side(which really doesn't show up very often at all) thinks I can do it for waaay less then 20 bucks.

I really should start selling stuff on Etsy, these people must make some good money.

I totally know what you mean =) i think they have a pretty high transaction fee... so i think that is part of the reason some of the prices are high =) I was looking at baby stuff today and there were so many beanies I wanted but they were like $20 each...
