Ladies, DH and I are toying with throwing a Halloween Party this year. We went to a Famous Couples party last year. I'm not sure if I want to make it a theme this year, or just let people dress as they wish. What do you think? If I did a theme, what's some ideas? (Help me brainstorm!)
TIA!

Re: Halloween Party ideas
Honestly, I feel like Halloween is enough of a theme by itself. Some people already hate dressing in costumes, I don't like to add to that burden by making them dress in something even more specific.
All that said, I really like decades themed parties with the 50s and 80s being my faves.
I've thrown a huge party each Halloween for the past three years. I'm currently cooking up a theme for this year's. My themes mostly revolve around the decorations, though, and not necessarily to dictate costumes (as it's hard enough to get some people to put on a costume).
Themes we've had in the past:
Are You Afraid of the Dark? - lawn decorations from the show, a huge Zeebo the clown, etc. I also tried to make each room look like a different popular episode.
Haunted Carnival - the clown came in handy again
, carnival lights in the front yard (with a few missing for creep effect), cotton candy, popcorn, weird mirrors
Haunted House - graveyard out front, clown became man with large knife, lots of dry ice, and so on
This year I'm toying with the idea of doing an homage to all of the scary movie classics, like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, The Birds, Psycho... Either that, or since we just moved out to the country, I might do a "House on the Hill" sort of theme. Or you could do a fancy Halloween party, with glittered decorations (think Martha Stewart) and painted pumpkins.
