Need dr recs ladies...

I know there aren't a ton of mamas on here but I thought I'd give it a shot. I have a two-fold dilema here. 1) I hate DDs pediatritian. We have completely different ideals and I'm tired of getting a lecture every time she goes in. 2) If things go as planned I'm going to be delivering a baby next year. I will be trying for a VBAC and I need a doctor that is super supportive of natural birth. Additionally, I have to deliver in Illinois.

SO ideally, I would be able to find a family practice in Rock Island (we're in the west end of Davenport) that is accepting new patients and can take me and DD. I would be willing to look in Moline, but that's a really long drive especially when it gets down to the bi-weekly and weekly visits. If you have an amazing family practice or pedi in Davenport, I'd be willing to entertain that for DD and look into a seperate practice for me in Illinois. Also, I am open to using a midwife too, I just won't work with one who reports to a bunch of non-VBAC supportive OBs.

I have been searching for weeks and I think it's really sad that birth options are so limited here.

Re: Need dr recs ladies...

  • I will start with a saying that my family/cousins are all a bunch of married people taking their sweet time getting around to the baby making stage. So I'm not much help.

I will have to ask the one cousin who she is seeing. Last time I talked to her (in August... yeah, real close), I think she said she was delivering in Illinois. Might take be a bit to get back to you on that.

I agree that there aren't alot of options in terms of supportive doctors. I feel stuck with my current doctor in Peoria and really don't want to deal with their practice when the time comes. All the good doctors are never where you need them.

  • Thanks!

I did just find out we have a local chapter of ICAN which surprised me and is really awesome. I'll report back if they have any good recs in case anyone else is looking too!
