An interesting read

Long, but fascinating:

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/21/world/asia/21gender.html

CN: It's an article about parents in Afghanistan dressing their young daughters as boys, so that they can have the freedom to go out, work, go to school, and play sports... not to mention elevate the family's status.

Women's rights issues aside, it got me thinking about the consequences of raising kids with a specific gender identity. Obviously, these little girls had to switch back eventually and the article talks about how they all reacted differently.

How do you think our outlook would be different if we had gotten to experience "boyhood" in our society?
