  • She is gorgeous.  My first thought when I saw the pic was "oh she's tiny" and then I looked back at her birth weight and realized she's two pounds bigger than my son at birth.  It's amazing how they all just look so small!!  Congrats to you and your family!
  • It's not really too exciting. I started having contractions around 11:30pm onthe 10th. There were about 15 minutes apart...so I just tried to sleep through them. Around 3am, I started timing them and by 4am they were about 30-45 sec long every 4 minutes. I woke up DH, so he could time while I showered. Then we labored at home a while longer since we were supposed to wait til contractions were 1 minute long. About 7am we finally decided to g to hospital and hope we would be admitted. We got there at 8am, I was 3cm 85% effaced. No luck getting admitted. They wanted me to walk around, but when I stood up I started to bleed, so they had me lay back down for an hour. I was checked again after that hour and no change. This time I had to walk. After an hour (of painful contractions) of walking, I was rechecked and was 3.5cm and 90% effaced. They finally admitted me (about 10:30). I labored for a while longer...walking, using the whirlpool tub, etc...so much pain! At 1:30pm (after 14hrs of labor), I broke and got the epi.

They checked me again at that point and I was 5cm and 95% effaced. An hour later I was 7cm. Then an hour later  I was 8cm. At 3:30pm I was at 9.5 cm. Then it took FOREVER for me to get that last cm. They had to keep flipping me on my sides to get me to dilate completely. At 6:45pm I finally was fully dilated. I started to push, but the epi had me so numb I couldn't feel where to push. After 45 minutes of pushing, they had to have the epi turned down so I could start to feel things again. That took about 45 minutes. Then for the next almost 2 hours I pushed. When the epi wore off, I could feel the contractions again which were so painful. After 2 hours of pushing, Evelyn was finally born. Such an unbelieveable feeling.
