Furniture Stores...

DH and I are looking for furniture for our new house...anyone have suggestions for stores other then the Big Box stores.

We don't have a ton to spend and aren't in the market for expensive stuff, but don't want IKEA crap. In other words, we don't have $3,000 for a kitchen table and chairs.

We will be in the Loop this weekend, so anything is the city is great. Otherwise, the burbs are fine too.

 Any recommendations?

 Thanks!

Re: Furniture Stores...

  • i'm considering darvin furniture on the south side. i read about their big selection and reasonable prices. good luck to you  and congrats on the new home

  • We got our couch from Darvin.  We love it and if we have/had issues, we just give them a call and have someone from an outsourced furniture repair come out.

I would check out: Z gallerie, their stuff can be pricey but if you catch a sale, you can get some good deals.

If you don't mind second hand furniture check out Threads on Milwaukee: it's a resale sale shop but they have TONS of furniture and it's always really cool/unique stuff and in good shape. http://www.threadsetcresale.com/

  • We've  always gone to Darvin in Orland Park. We tried looking at other places but always find that we purchase from Darvin. Try the Closeout section first before you look at the full price selection. It's towards the back of the store in a warehouse close to the washrooms. Good Luck!
