Financial Adviser Recs

My DH and I are newlyweds and together we have quite a bit of debt.  In trying to get a handle on things (saving for a house, future baby), I'm wondering if anyone has a financial adviser.  I am looking for someone to look at all of our spending, bills, income, etc., and tell us what to cut back on, how to manage our credit card debt and student loans.  I wasn't sure if I should post this on the MM board, but I would like someone local.

Thanks!!

Re: Financial Adviser Recs

  • I have read a little bit of The Total Money Make-Over.  I know A LOT of people out there have really enjoyed his book.  It has the same concepts of just about all the finance books out there but I think it just in a more entertaining way.    I'm not sure if a financial advisor is going to help as they are just going to cost you more money.  I would say stick to a book and as long as you follow their advice you shouldn't need to pay a financial advisor for his/her advice!
  • I am a REALTOR and do a lot of my loans thru Pulaski Bank.  The loan officer that I work with offers credit repair and would give great advice to help get your scores up and debt paid off.  Send me an email if you would like his info. rjohnson@mygatewayhomes.com  Rebecca
