Wanted: Ideas for "Music Video Party"
In October, my husband and I are throwing a Music Video [costume] Party. Everyone has to come dressed as a performer from a music video- so, for example- a specific Lady Gaga or Madonna outfit, not just "Lady Gaga" in general. People have known about it for awhile and are planning great costumes. We are going to have food, drinks, games, contests, and fun decor. I have SOME ideas but I'll throw it out there for you guys to comment on too!
Food: I want to have themed food (Like, button candy and gummy bears from Katy Perry's california girls video)
Drinks: I want to have maybe 1 non-alcoholic punch and 3 alcoholic pre-mixed drinks- themed! (The only thing I thought of is some kind of green punch in a container wrapped in gauze with plastic eyeballs in it- like a zombie thing for the video Thriller. ) So.. one theme down, 3 to go.
Costume Contest: We have 6 little trophies to award- copies of those silver MTV moonmen. What categories should the trophies go to?
Games: I want to have a "Name that music video" but they are so hard to download (at least for me) but I need other game ideas if you have any
Decor- I was just going to go with a silver and black theme. Easy and Music Video-ish, I think. Yes? No?
Any ideas you have would be greatly appreciated- you guys are THE BEST.

Food: Themed food sounds like a lot of work and might be a good place to save some energy. Maybe you do a mini-dessert bar with the candy, with labels, referencing the video.
Drinks: I like the idea of themed drinks. Maybe you can make some sort of fruity cocktail and call it "Raspberry Beret" a la Prince.
Costume Contest: Def. give a prize for best couple / best gender bender / most realistic.
Games: You could run the Music Edition of the Scene It game on your big screen? Or do a Guitar Hero Playoff?
Decor: Sounds perfect. I'd maybe add a little Music Video- themed favour bag to send home with guests at the end of the night.
Food: I agree with PP. Just do an assortment of finger foods with no theme. That might be too much work for you.
Drinks: Gin and Juice? from Snoop Dog's song. Or Brass Monkey. Or just Red Red Wine
Costume Contest: Catagory ideas- most original, best overall are a couple ideas.
Games: Instead of naming that music video with actual music, couldn't you just take famous lines out of songs and have people guess the name of the song and the artist? Or finish that song where people finish the line of a song.
