Everytime I go in there I feel like I have to haggle. It is a post office not the Grand Bazaar. I go in with a package and this is how it goes:
Me: I want to send this to zip code 12345
Post Office Lady: It will be $60 for overnight express mail
Me: No, the cheapest you have
Post Office Lady: Well, It will be $35 for priority mail 1-2 days
Me: No, the cheapest you have!
Post Office Lady: Well it will be $15 for 2-8 days
I mean...didn't she heard me the fisrt time I asked for the cheapest?!?
Listen Post Office Lady, you have a list there with the prices...next time I ask for the cheapest, start from the freaking bottom of the list!...Ugh!

This is why I love my post office. Three of those automated things and they are available 24/7. I go in at 8PM, slap my packages right on there, ask a few quick computer questions, and I'm out the door!
Natalie, I got the PO box thing when I lived in Wisconsin all the time. It was funniest when I was picking up packages that didn't fit in my PO box and had just walked up to the counter and said "Packages for box 1535, please." "Would you like a PO box?" "Uh... no. I'm good with one. Thanks."
I am pretty sure they don't work on commission.
I never have a problem at mine here in Maryland. I also never had a problem in Nebraska, when I handed off my mail to my handy post man - my dad
My maternal grandpa was also a postal worker, as is my uncle. Gotta defend the postal workers, it's in my blood!
I actually really love my post office, but it's a teeny tiny one with only two desks and there's never anyone in line. It's always the same two guys at the desk and they're always super nice. We have four post offices in town and I refuse to go to any of the other ones (they're bigger and always have massive lines).
