Headbands: Yay or Nay?

My bangs are out of control.  They were cute and side-swept, but now they have grown out.  I don't have time to get them trimmed for at least two weeks.  I was thinking about getting a headband.  Nothing cutesy.  Maybe a black fabric covered headband just to give my hair a change.  Right now I either put my bangs behind my ear or pull it half back.  It needs something.

Thanks girls.

Re: Headbands: Yay or Nay?

  • I have some and think they are still cute and trendy (I think the skinnier ones are cutier).  I probably should pull them out again.  Sometimes they tend to give me a headache if I wear them too long!!! ha.

but yes, they are cute to me, IMO.

  • They give me a headache too.  I don't understand why they can make headbands as comfortable as wearing sunglasses on top of your head.
  • I think it depends on the person's style... bc I see some people with headbands and I think "wow how cute!" then I see others and it looks like they're trying too hard. you know what I mean?
  • I think headbands are cute.  As long as you get ones that don't hurt :)  There are some "wavy" looking ones that kind of distribute the pressure to different areas, if that makes sense... and you could always go with the looser fabric ones that aren't made of hard materials.  I still can't wear one for long periods of time though!

Bobby pins are my BFFs. :)

  • Yeah, I think it depends on the person and how their face is shaped, how big their forehead is and what kind of hair they have.  I love them on some people, but don't think they look very good on me.  I do like the skinny ones better.
  • Yay.  I've had a hard time finding some that hurt, but like more the ones that are soft and have the elastic at the back (connect).  I mostly wear them around the house, but wear the elastic kind out with my hair pulled up.
  • Ohhh, b... that reminds me. There's a way I wear my hair quite a bit since my bangs are longer, and it's super cute and REALLY easy. you just take your bangs in your hand, hold then straight up and losely twist them like, once or twice depending on how much of a pouf you want. then, pin them down in place with two bobby pins in an x shape and hit with a bit of hairspray, making sure to shape them into a nice, soft symmetrical shape. I especially like to wear them like that when I wear a ponytail because it immediately dresses the ponytail up.

  • Can I just say that I wear headbands to work at least twice a week!  I love the thick fabric ones.  I only wear the solid colors, and they always "match" my outfit.  People have poked fun at me a few times, but I honestly don't care.  I hate hair in my face and I adore headbands.

  • There are some out there that are very cute.  Just try several and find the one that looks best on you.

  • oohh....you could also pin them to the side with a cute little clip??

    I also like AM's suggestion :)

  • I think they are cute...confession:I am so guilty of using my giant sunglasses as a headband sometimes...
  • I love them!  I also wear scarves as headbands.  I LOVE to coordinate w/ my outfit :)
