First Day of Fall!

Even though it is supposed to be in the 100s in temps this weekend, I am still excited that it is officially fall.  Anyone have any fall related plans coming up?  I have been eating those damn pumpkin pie Pop Tarts every morning for breakfast (thank you Angela for introducing me to these- I can feel my @$$ getting wider by the bite Stick out tongue).

I can't wait to carve pumpkins.  I freakin' love Halloween.

Re: First Day of Fall!

  • Fall has always been my favorite time of year!

My family goes camping every year the first weekend in October (which also happens to be my birthday!) at a local place.  They have all kinds of fall/halloween events for the weekend and a big stew dinner one night.  Its so nice to sit back, relax, and enjoy a few drinks.

  • Haha, sorry! I'm a total pumpkin freak, so I love that it will hopefully be cool enough for me to really enjoy all my pumpkin treats them.

I love fall, it is my absolute favorite season (so I'm glad Liam will be born in it!), and halloween is one of my fave holidays. I love snuggling in hoodies in the chilly air, opening the windows and getting that awesome chilly breeze, and the smell of fall leaves!

Now if it wasn't supposed to be 96 degrees today I'd be much more excited about the first day of fall!

  • I wish I could eat Pop Tarts--I'd be on the pumpkin ones like a monkey on a cupcake.  This week I started working on fall cards for my shop, and I've started shopping for cute sweaters.  Cooking wise, I made pumpkin muffins last week.  Tuesday we had butternut squash and kasha salad and will have butternut squash and quinoa frittata tomorrow.  When it cools down, I'll be making candied pumpkin a la camotes en dulce style.

Plus, I've been planning imaginary Thanksgiving--I'm trying to gather everything so I can propose it to DH's family.  They use paper and plastic everything, and it needs to stop.  I don't care if I'm in the kitchen washing dishes for 2 hours afterwards: it needs to stop.  My proposal will include real linens, plates, and flatware (and also more decor).

Love this...it's the Susie Homemaker in me (or nesting instincts from being preggo) but I love a real, sit-down, formal Thanksgiving dinner.  And it's better for the environment to go old school like this.

  • I need a couple more weeks- my kitchen is half packed (should close ANY day!) So long days of soup making and bread baking are out. I can't wait to be settled in to the house though. I'm also looking so forward to Halloween, I'm taking a day off- Can't wait to meet all my new trick or treaters!
  • I love fall, I'm so excited! But ditto everyone else on these temperatures- it's supposed to be 86 here today. Ugh!

But there are so many things I'm looking forward to! Baking galore, making chili, having the windows open, having a fire in the backyard with s'mores and pumpkin beer, wearing boots, wearing sweaters, Halloween, the crisp smell in the air...

One thing in particular I'm looking forward though is the town we got married in has a Food and Wine festival the week before our anniversary. We missed it last year! I love going to it- the weather is gorgeous and all the food and wines are amazing.

  • I heart fall too, but it will be interesting to see how it unfolds here. I've never experienced anythng other than the Northeast seasons, so I am holding my breath hoping for something similar.

  • Fall is my all-time favorite! This weekend is a fall festival called AppleUpmkin that I never miss so my friend and I will be hitting that up Saturday for some crafts. DH has a bachelor party to go to this weekend so I will be doing tons of fall decorating while he is gone!

    Kel,

Lots and lots of rain! And Pea- Soup fog, the kind that gets in to your bones. A good time for homemade soup, hot baths, and someone warm to snuggle up to.
