School's brutal right now, so I use my meager remaining brain cells to daydream about fluffy, happy stuff...
Question 1
I thought it'd be fun to have a Christmas tree decorating party. Almost all of my friends are out of state students and we won't be done with finals until Dec 14, so many people will miss out on decking their own halls this year.
We have a final Friday, December 10 and another on Tuesday, December 14, so I thought maybe one night that weekend I'd invite just my girl friends (boys wouldn't want to do this IMO) for cookies, cocoa, carols and to share in decorating our tree.
Thoughts? Any brainstorming ideas? Time? Food? Logistics? Invitation wording?
I figured I'd put the lights on ahead of time (since I'm kind of a nut about the method for that lol) and have the boxes of ornaments open and sorted.
Question 2
Do you think the weekend of Dec 18/19 is too late for a holiday party/open house? (For our non-student, couples friends who actually live here like we do.)
Re: I'm going there...Christmas :P
I LOVE Christmas. It always sneaks up on me too - so I don't think it is too early to think about "fluffy, happy stuff..."
Re: Question 1 - I think it is a very nice idea. You might want to invite guys... I've been to a trimming party with guys there. You're right they didn't decorate but they did hang out and eat stuff. My friend served a great "Egg Nog Punch" recipe two years ago that I still remember. I will e-mail her and try to get you the recipe asap.
Re: Question 2 - I don't think Dec. 18/19 is too late in the season for an open house. I would make the invitation - sort of a "drop in" kind of thing.
Have fun!
I have been to a Christmas tree trimming party before- it was fun
They had apps, christmas cookies, punch and alcoholic beverages. They had Christmas music on in the background, and we all just hung out in the LR and trimmed the tree while chatting, nibbling and drinking. Very relaxing!
I dont think that's too late for a holiday party. Do you think people will have plans though? The weekend before Christmas is usually crazy busy for most (last minute shopping, cleaning the house, having family get togethers).
I think a Trim the Tree decorating party sounds like fun! To me, that kind of celebration seems more relaxing since its with friends, at the beginning of the season.
For a theme or wording, I like Cocoa, Cookies and Carols .I'd do girly colors, too with the invite. How about a xmas cookie decorating bar or ask each person to bring their fave cookies. Maybe do a recipe book, where you ask each person ahead of time to send u their fave recipe and you can make up a little booklet for each of them for favors? Tie it with a pretty ribbon and done!
Do you have a karoke machine? That might be fun after a Sig cocktail, like a Mint Martini!
