Need techno help, please

My friend said she thinks she has a "worm" on her computer since she did something with an e-mail that came from her friend at a company that was infected.

Anyway, what do you suggest she do to get rid of it?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Need techno help, please

  • Does she know that she has a worm on her computer or is she just guessing?  We had a virus hit our company email system and lots of people were reporting that their computers were affected but what had actually happened was that they had received an email with a link to a virus; as long as they didn't click the link, nothing bad happened.

Anyhow, if she knows what worm she has (Conficker?), she can Google removal instructions.  If she doesn't have a virus scanner, she can download AVG free.

  • THanks

and yes, she clicked on the link.

She said the person she got it from said it was a worm in their company.  Anyway, she got impatient and took it in somethere to get it de-bugged, for about $100

  • she should have run malwarebytes from home... much cheaper
