A Newbie To Green Reviews

MH and I are slowly transitioning to green and I wanted to give a review on some items that we've used that work that aren't as famous as Diva Cup or Dr. Bronners, lol.

Deodorant - Lavanila (Sephora) is the only deodorant that has worked for me.  Off the top of my head I've tried deodry and the male deodorant from the body shop, burts for men, jason's, Tom of Nature, origins, Lush, and many more.  I don't have to reapply mid day and I can generally make it to bed time without offending anyone

Automatic toilet bowl cleaner - Bio Pac (Whole Foods).  Someone on here made a post and in that I found this product.  I've used it for about 3 weeks now, bowl is still clean and the water is still blue.

Detergent - Ecos (Costco and Whole Foods).  We love this stuff.  Prior to looking for a green detergent, we used Tide with Downy.  This is a perfect switch in that it has a soy based fabric softner and it smells great.  My Whole Foods has started to carry it, however, you get more bang for your buck if you can get it from Costco

Trash Bags - Econogreen (Office Depot).  Made from 100% recycled plastic and are oxodegradalbe.  They break down in about 2 years.  They have tall kitchen, 33 gallon, and contractor bags.

ETA:  Disposible Wipes - Green Shield (Lowes).  They're pretty much biodegradable vinegar wipes, but I like them.

Hope this helps someone.

Re: A Newbie To Green Reviews

  • Thanks for the reviews! I wasn't aware of some of these products.

Eco-friendly automatic toilet bowl cleaner makes me giggle though... the blue water always seemed really strange to me! I just use a non-automatic cleaner, I think its by Ecover.

I love the Ecos laundry detergent. They sell it at Costco too (which for me is a local company!) at a really good price.
