Co-Worker Vents Here please

This is day 5 of cow-chewing, gum popping by my desk mate.  I CAN"T STAND IT.  Same girl that chews her smooth yogurt when she eats it.  I have a feeling though, that this gum is actually her breakfast--she's got food issues (sad, but the gum popping has.to.stop).

Re: Co-Worker Vents Here please

  • All my co-workers are Chinese.  I'd really love to hear English every once and a while.... and it not be my boss (the only other American in my lab) being negative towards me.  It's really putting me in a funk.
  • I'd get a peice of gum and pop back. Everytime she pops, you pop back. Make a joke of it, like it's kind of a game, but maybe she'll also get the point that it's obnoxious.

Earlier this week, I stood up on my desk b/c my flourescent light was flickering so I was banging the ceiling trying to get it to stop.  After I got down, my supervisor who is accross the hall from me and can see my desk from his, asked when I was going to come accross the hall and do the same thing in there. He was waving a dollar bill at me while asking. We joke around a lot, so I try and let a lot go, but sometimes I'm just like...seriously?

  • These stories make me very thankful for my home office!
  • The person who sits next to me is basically making some kind of noise all day long. If he is not sucking snot up his nose he is burping, eating chips or some weird lunch concoction. He also listens to a radio, which typically does not bother me. However he often has the radio going and then starts watching weird video clips online, so there are multiple sources of sound coming from his cube.  Technically we are supposed to wear headphones if listening to music and not eat at our desks, but these rules do not seem to apply to him.
