FIL is in ICU
Ladies, can I ask you all to send a little T&P to my ILs? My FIL is in the ICU for the next week while they work to get his liver functioning again. He's already on the transplant list, but this new illness will not bump him up higher. He had to receive platelets last night after they got him into ICU and was given adivan (sp?) to calm him enough to get some rest finally. He hadn't slept at all last week while in SC visiting BIL for his boot camp graduation from the army. It's just another set back with his liver, and we just don't know how much longer he will have to wait for a new one
While Andrew and I were driving home from the hospital last night we also found out his ammonia levels were sky high, proving his liver is failing. We knew this day would come, we just hoped it would be much further away. I think the boys are going to be tested to see if they are matches for blood donations and maybe to give part of their liver to FIL. Andrew is willing to do the blood donations, but we are both fearful of the liver donation due to the recovery time that would go into it. Xander is a handful most days since he's always on the move that I couldn't imagine having him and trying to take care of Andrew during recovery time. We have decided that if it was needed we would need to move in with my parents for that time.
Can you please leave this off FB, I don't know what family members know about FIL's current situation. Also sorry this is super long, but thanks for listening (reading).
