Has Anyone Ever Seen a "Baby Pigeon"!?!?!?
I went to watch a romantic comedy, and there was this guy that kept ranting about how come they never see baby pigeons in NYC.
I didn't give it much thought until after I walked out of the movie ... then couldn't stop thinking about it. I have always been in bigger cities and seen big, fat, disgusting pigeons (I hate pigeons) ... but NEVER have I seen a baby pigeon before.
Why is this? Have any of you ever witnesses a tiny baby pigeon ... and if not, where the heck are they ... do they nest, hatch, and grow up in quieter suburbs, and then flock to the city when they are grown?

Most people don't see any species of baby birds unless they fall out of their nests in a storm.
If there is water around where you live or work, you might see young waterfowl like ducks or geese. Or if there's a farm, baby chicks.
Otherwise, most baby birds don't leave the nest until they FLY out of it... because they're not babies anymore.
This. We've seen baby birds but only because we can see in their nests. When they fledge they basically look like teenagers. Here's some pictures of some cowbirds at our house the day before they fledged. I had a just fleged robin almost hit me in the head this year. It didn't do so well and the mom bird was freaking out because I had our dog out. I put the dog inside, grabbed a camera, took a few pics from a distance, and didn't go in our backyard for the rest of the day. We were also blessed to have baby geese this year on our pond along with the many ducklings we have each spring.
We have baby doves every year. Doves nest just about anywhere they can get protection and that is our backyard since we don't have a pup. We watch them from eggs until they fly away.
I for one am glad I have never seen a baby pigeon and don't want to see adult ones close either (yuck)
