Need help choosing my Christmas gift....

I told DH that all I wanted for Christmas is to go to a nice dinner and see the Nutcracker. But then I started thinking that I'd like to see "The Irish and How They Got That Way". Then I saw that they are reviving "La Cage au Folles" starring Kelsey Grammer on Broadway and I thought I might like to see that. So help me choose:

1 - Nutcracker: My absolute favorite ballet of all time, I saw it last about 12 or 13 years ago and would really like to see it. Also, it is in keeping with the holiday season.

2 - The Irish...: I've heard good things, tickets are relatively cheaper and I love Frank McCourt (writer) and Irish music. However, we'd have to see it sooner since it probably won't be around in December so it won't seem like a Christmas gift.

3 - La Cage..: I loved, loved, loved it when I saw it 15 years ago and I'm a huge Kelsey Grammer fan.

So which would you pick? Dinner is a given regardless of the show.

Re: Need help choosing my Christmas gift....

  • Why not let your husband pick one of the three shows and you'll be surprised?
  • Because he's not really into "shows" but he is willing to go with me as part of my gift so he doesn't care one way or another. I'm leaning toward The Nutcracker though as I think more about it. I'll probably be able to make a better decision when the tickets go on sale and I see how much good seats cost.

well, I just checked the website and The Irish and How They Got That Way ends its run today soooo it's only between the other two now.

  • I would go with the Nutcracker since it's what you originally wanted. Plus, it's a special Christmas thing that you can't do at another time of the year.
  • Put all three into a hat, and when you are at work, every co-worker that stops by have them pull a slip of paper out, and at the end of the work week, there, you will have your decision!! Fun Fun Fun!

  • I say definitely go see The Nutcracker, you will enjoy it more since it revolves around Xmas times and you will be in the city taking in all the holiday excitement.
