Rain Rain.

Why is it that my 70lb pit bull is so afraid of rain?  We usually leave her outside on her line while we're at work, but since it's supposed to rain a majority of the day, I decided the leave her inside - but she had to go potty first.  I had to pick her up off of her bed and put her outside.  Then once outside I had to usher her off the deck and stand in the rain on the bottom step and then after about a minute she got the picture that we weren't going inside until she went potty.  Stubborn dog.  My mom's mini schnauzer is like this, but she's also like 8lbs!  Sadie use to live purely outside at my MIL's house!  She's gotten spoiled.

As a side note, this is the same dog that will chase cows into a pond and will go running into the ocean. Seriously dog?

Re: Rain Rain.

  • That's very funny and sweet.  I guess we all have our irrational fears, right?
  • Our dog Rudy loves the rain.  I think it feels like tons of hands petting him because he'll try to rub up against the falling rain so that it gets his favorite spots- what a weirdo!  The annoying part is when he doesn't want to come in.  So needless to say he gets bribed with a lot of treats during rainy weather.
  • Maybe she associates it with the thunder. The thunder terrifies my dog.
  • Lucy our basset. . . swims in the bath tub, but when its raining, she'll plop her fat butt down right before the steps outside and refuse to move. I'm sure the neighbors get a great laugh watching me trying to move her (She's only 38 lbs, but good LORD her dead weight is crazy).

    Maybe she thinks she'll melt?

My moms pit is the same way, but after she gets her paws wet, she'll run and do circles, do her bis really quickly and then speed race back into the house.
