Household appliance drama

OMG. We just bought a house ( which totally drains the finances to 0 for a bit and then there is a rebound) and we quickly find out that our refrigerator doesn't fit in the 80's sized space in the kitchen. Awesome. A great kitchen but the spot allotted for the fridge is so outdated I wanna scream. The width and depth are a joke for a 2010 fridge. I am having a heart attack. lol

Anyone know of a really great place with good deals on new or gently used appliances? I cannot justify buying a 2000$ fridge. Which is apparently what our specifications find when searching online at stores. The kitchen will get a makeover someday but not realistically in the next 5 yrs.

  • Honestly, I would check Craigslist.

When we bought our place, we had to buy a stackable washer/dryer and found a great set for cheap that was gently used.  I always find great deals on high quality items there.

    Good luck!

  • George Smith Appliance Warehouse off of I84 is great. They're owned by Standard but their prices are reasonable and they have a whole back room full of "damaged" appliances for sale at deep discounts. We got a top of the line Bosch washer and dryer set there when we bought our house five years ago for a ridiculously good price.

Other than that, I would check out Craiglist. That being said, you should check the Energy Trust of Oregon's website to see what rebates and tax credits are available to you for purchasing a new, efficient refrigerator.
