Anybody deliver at BI?

I just made my first OB appt. I was split between wanting to deliver at Brigham and Women or BI. I called Harvard Vanguard in Kenmore first thing on Friday, and after being put on hold for 20 mins, was told I'd be hear back from the scheduler. Still hadn't heard anything by 2pm today so decided to call BI and see if I had a better experience. They were able to schedule me over the phone right then (granted my appt isn't until October 21st).

Any women deliver at BI and willing to share their experience - good or bad?

Also, how any weeks were you at your first appt? I'll be about 10 weeks. Unfortunately, this was the soonest they could get me in.

Thanks in advance.

  • no experience with BI, but I think it's common practice to not be seen until at least 8 weeks (that's what my OBGYN office does) unless you have spotting before your appt.

  • I went to Beverly so can't help with the hospital but it is standard practice to have your first prenatal visit between 8 and 10 weeks unless you have spotting or a history of miscarriages.  My first appt with my daughter was at 8 weeks (at that appt it was mostly just going over family history stuff and a test to confirm the prenangcy ... nothing too exciting or interesting). Then I went back at 10 weeks to hear the heartbeat and do more blood tests (that appt was a LOT more interesting).

  • Thanks ladies. I've heard that 8-10 weeks is pretty standard but I was on another pregnancy board yesterday and so many of the women had already seen their OBs. Many of them do seem to have histories of miscarriage and have had issues TTC so that's probably why.

Either way, having to wait is driving me crazy. Despite the 3 positive pregnanacy test, I still feel like it won't be real until an actual medical professional tells me it is.

I felt the same way! I actually made an appt at my OB and brought in photos of the positive pregnancy tests on my phone, then begged her to draw blood because I just couldn't believe it!

I don't know anything about BI, but good luck with everything!
