What did you guys get in your baskets this week?
Re: BB'ers
We got 2 acorn squashes (which I see you got too from FB), celery, 4 onions, lettuce, peaches, plums, apples, 2 containers of concord grapes, okra, 2 asian pears, bananas... I feel like there was something more, but I don't remember.
I looked up a couple recipes online for the squash and okra. It will an experiment for sure! Poor DH the unwitting guinea pig! LOL
they have awesome okra! i always get the mac and cheese and mix them.
here's a healthier recipe for it
2 Cups Okra, cut into 1 inch rounds (you could also use frozen okra that?s defrosted)
1 Tsp Salt
1/4 Cup Flour
1 Egg
1/2 Cup Cornmeal
1/4 Cup Parmesan Cheese
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Place the flour and salt in a bowl and stir to combine.
3. Whisk the egg in a second bowl.
4. Place the cornmeal and parmesan cheese in a third bowl and stir to combine.
5. Roll the okra in the flour and pat to remove excess flour.
6. Dip the flour coated okra in egg and then roll in the cornmeal/parmesan mixture to coat.
7. Place the okra on a cookie sheet sprayed or greased with olive oil and when all the okra nuggets are on the tray, spray again to lightly coat.
8. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden.
*Freeze before baking. When ready to eat ? take them out of the freezer and put them in the oven adding at least another 3-5 minutes baking time.
I know, I love their okra! I always get it. That recipe sounds good too though. Thanks!
I have never been to Cracker Barrel, I hear it is super yummy though... I really like the sounds of Shannon's recipe, thanks for sharing that shannon
WHAT?!?? Never been to Cracker Barrel?? Well we've gotta go lady! All of their food is good, but it's esp. good to go for brkft too. We'll have to go sometime soon. I've been in the mood, but haven't gotten there yet.
Is it really that good? I've heard about it but never lived near one before. Kinda of like Sonic...
Lol, it's prob. just cuz I grew up in the country & it's more "homestyle" like food, but yeah, it's good. Their hashbrown casserole, fried apples, fried okra, & chicken n' dumplings are all really good!
