Our dishwasher is really old. It doesn't clean worth a crap. I had to rewash all but 1 dish today when I emptied it. Nothing comes clean. We don't leave big chunks of things on the dishes either. Little specks of pepper or liquid don't even come off.
Would you call the landlord about this? We tried switching detergent and that didn't work. We still have like 10 months left on a our lease and I hate washing dishes by hand.
He seems to just brush off any issues we have, so I just wonder if he'll say the old tenants had no issues so it must be our fault.

Re: Would you call?
Have you tried an empty cycle with vinegar (in a cup)? That helped somewhat when we were in our rental. Things get clogged up with food after a while, and it's likely that it wasn't really thoroughly cleaned before you moved it. It's worth a try.
If that didn't/doesn't work, I would definitely contact the landlord. That is his responsibility. I would make sure to let him know everything you've tried, so he knows it's actually an issue.
Hope you're able to get it straightened out!
i would definitely mention it to the landlord.... if they refuse to do anything about it, maybe make a stink about how part of the reason why you chose that house is bc it had a dishwasher.... maybe if they won't do anything, you could negotiate some sort of discount per month.
it's worth a shot!
Yep, that's the landlords responsibility.
I would try the vinegar trick first just to see if it works. My mom has done this with her dishwasher when it acts up and it's helped.
If they put up a stink, maybe point out these :

Advice from someone that rented a house from a slumlord... get things in writing (Always. . .verbal agreements are legal in NC, but hard to prove for obvious reasons), and with you having 10 months left, maybe approach the issue in a diplomatic way (not saying you wouldn't) explaining that you've done everything you can to fix it and that you weren't the cause of it breaking. I just know it sucks royally to piss off a landlord and still have to live there for a while.
Good Luck!
