Internet Service Provider Recs please!

Who is your ISP? Do you like them? Good/reliable service and decent price?

We currently have a Sprint Data card and pay through the nose for it. We got it over 2 years ago when our area only had dial-up service . . . and yes, I do live in the twin cities and can be in either down town in less than 10 minutes. It was just a quirk about the area we live in. So, we  bit the bullet and got a data/wireless internet card - -  and of course, a matter of months after we signed a 2 year contract, our area FINALLY got high-speed internet.

Well, now Sprint has changed its terms of service and has put a limit on our previously unlimited plan. Not good and I have already been on the phone with them to express my frustration with this change.  Even if they can offer me something, it will still likely have some sort of limit and we will still be paying too much - - - -

So who do you use? I've heard nothing but complaints about Comcast - but is Qwest any better? Is there anything besides those two?

Recommendations (and if you don't mind sharing costs) are appreciated!

Re: Internet Service Provider Recs please!

  • We use City of Minneapolis Wireless Service (USI) http://www.usiwireless.com/

We've been with them just over a year with no problems. I can't remember how much we pay but it was significantly cheaper than Comcast when we signed up. We paid for the entire year at once and got an even better rate. PM me if you want more info on cost and I can ask my husband.

Thanks! Unfortunately we are about a 1/2 mile outside of Minneapolis so I don't think it would work for us (from what I could tell it was only for Mpls residents).
