Dr. B's for laundry?

Does anyone use Dr. Bronner's for their laundry?  We've been using Purex and Tide Free & Gentle but I would like to switch to a better option.  We always have Dr. B's Peppermint, Tea Tree, and Almond in the house.

 Reviews?

Re: Dr. B's for laundry?

  • I wouldn't recommend it straight, definitely not for a HE machine/front loader.

We have used Dr.B's bar soap in homemade detergent, namely recipe #4 at http://tipnut.com/10-homemade-laundry-soap-detergent-recipes/

2 cups Fels Naptha Soap (finely grated ? you could also try the other bar soaps listed at the top)
    1 cup Washing Soda
    1 cup Borax

    • Mix well and store in an airtight plastic container.
    • Use 2 tablespoons per full load. (1tbsp for front loader)
We switched to Kirk's Castille though, much cheaper.

  • I have a homemade laundry detergent recipe that uses Dr.Bs liquid soap here.  I made both the powder and the gel versions and I like them both a lot.  The powdered one is easier to make but the gel one works better with dark clothing.
