Hey ladies. Yesterday my dogs were going crazy in the back yard so DH went outside to see what they were doing and looked over the fence and there was a tiny adorable little dog sitting by our fence looking for somewhere to go. I went outside to see if his owners were anywhere around and there was no one out there so I went to the little guy and picked him up and took a walk around the block to see if I could find his owners. I made some signs and posted them around my neighborhood but I don't have the heart to leave this tiny little thing outside he is only like 2 pounds, and I don't think he is a puppy. I can't keep him because I am pretty sure my Great Dane will kill him because he is trying to play too rough with him, and if I don't find his mommy I was wondering if any of you would be interested in him. I will not take him to the pound, he is a chihuahua they will kill him there are just too many of them around here.
Re: Puppy
If you wouldn't mind, yes please. I just want him to go somewhere where he will be loved. He is potty trained, and from what I've seen and he was recently neutered, the scar is still fresh. I hope I find his real mommy soon, but my dogs are just going too crazy over him for me to keep him here.
Done! I will let you know if anyone says anything!
This! Be careful with lost animals. I worked for an animal rescue and you really should bring him to the local animal control center or humane society. I know you don't want him to be killed but most people don't walk around looking for Found signs, they search local shelters. Taking him to one of these centers can get him scanned and put in a database of missing animals in case his owners do come looking for him.
Most centers I know will let you take him after you've done that or come get him if he's not claimed in the allotted time period.
Also, I don't know what the laws are here but in California dogs are considered property and therefor by taking an animal and keeping him you could be accused of stealing. Now most people would be gracious that you took him in, kept him safe, and are doing what you're doing. BUT if you happen to get that jackass who is just a jerk to everyone you could find yourself in a lot of trouble even if you made an effort to find him. It's best to do it the "legal" route.
